Why Islamic Principles-Based Counseling?

Islam views a human being as a holistic entity composed of the body (jism), mind ('aql), and soul (ruh). While modern psychiatry primarily focuses on the physiological and psychological aspects of mental health, Islam recognizes the spiritual dimension as essential for overall well-being. The Quran emphasizes the significance of the soul and its purification:

"Indeed, he succeeds who purifies it (the soul), and he fails who corrupts it."

Additionally, Islamic counseling emphasizes community support, repentance, and self-improvement, which can be particularly beneficial in addressing anxiety, depression, and existential crises.
